Welcome to Crossfit Sky,
First of all, we are so glad that you found us and we look forward to help you change your fitness level like never before. There are many questions that surround Crossfit, what is it, who is it for, what do we do, and why? The best way to know more about the nature of Crossfit is to read over the Foundations of Crossfit article.
Here at Crossfit Sky we are dedicated to a performance based approach to fitness. What does that mean? We want everyone to move well and be the masters of their own body. Moving well through all exercises and moving with proficiency is our goal and to accomplish this we have to adhere to a few basic principles. Dan Pope, Physical Therapist, Crossfit coach, and owner of fitnesspainfree.com has an excellent article on the 12 principles necessary to excel at Crossfit (or life in general!). Guide to pain free fitness
One of the biggest obstacles an individual faces when beginning a Crossfit program is believing that there is a prerequisite level of fitness, or ability, required to begin. That is 100% FALSE! We meet everyone where they are starting and progress them based on their own personal ability. There is a modification for EVERY exercise we program so that we can better meet your needs, abilities, and goals.
Our goal is to get you into the best shape you have ever been! We plan on getting you there safely and efficiently, through assessments, goal setting, and patience. We cannot wait to start training with you and look forward to seeing you in one of our classes!
If you have any more questions about Crossfit, like what is a WOD, how do you do a muscle up, or anything else you could possibly imagine? You can visit the Crossfit HQ website at Crossfit. Of course, you can always stop by during a class time and give it a shot too.
If you have more questions, or you want some more guidance on how to get started at Crossfit Sky, check out this document and talk to one of our Concierge or one of our Crossfit Trainers.
No more excuses! Your fitness is your responsibility, come take control of it with us!
